STEERING TEAMS

As a result of the increasing amount of work and the expansion of the network, IGLYO recognises that in order to achieve its objectives there needs to be a change in the internal structure and strategic approach to its work. In our work to strengthen the IGLYO network we have decided to start working with steering teams. Steering Teams will be the initiators for the strategic expansion of the work in different policy areas. This construction will increase the involvement of young people in the decision making processes of IGLYO, as well as contributing to the greater visibility of young LGBT people in Europe. Two different Steering Teams was/is going to be created in order to focus on different (policy) areas:

  1. Communication
  2. Education - starting up soon

The main objectives of the steering teams are:

  • To define a policy paper and present it to the board and General Meeting of Members;
  • To identify strategic work options for the future of IGLYO;
  • To identify possible partners in this field;
  • To involve young people's in IGLYO's work and decision-making;
  • To increase IGLYO's lobbying work in putting young LGBT on the agendas of various European institutions.

Each steering team is composed of one board member and 3 – 4 experts, preferably representing the diversity of our member organisations. The members of the Steering Teams, which are involved on a voluntarily basis, are selected on the criterion of their experience on the Group's priority as well as an interest to work within IGLYO.

Due to the different background of steering teams they function differently. Generally speaking it can be said that the thematic steering teams will be responsible for policy development based on members input by means of need assessment, project development and representation in the respective field of policy.

Interested representatives of member organisations are welcome to propose candidates for the different steering teams to the IGLYO board. External experts are also welcome. Candidates should be coming from the region in which IGLYO is active.

By clicking on the above urls you will find a description of the different steering teams, as well and explanation on how the IGLYO board sees the development of the particular steering team in the near future.

For more information on the different steering teams you can contact the responsible board member.
